Building Phases

Things are still moving forward with the expansion project. The architects and engineers are busy working on the site plans.

The current plan is to build in phases. Phase one will include the secondary school section of the building. The secondary school includes 7th-10th grades for the 2009/10 school year. The sixth grade will be at this location also, only because of space issues. The expansion of the elementary will take up all of the current building and then some.

Phase two will bring the building to a point for all grades to attend school at the new location for the 2010/11 school year. At this point the 6th grade will move to the elementary section and 11th grade will be added to the secondary school.

The third and final phase will encompass our hopes for an auditorium, field house and sports fields.

Please remember that this information could change at any time.

First Info

We, the LPA expansion committee, are so excited to share with you the progress of the LPA expansion project. Please note that any information contained herein is subject to change at any time.
So far on the construction end of things, LPA is in the process of purchasing land. As long as all the contingencies are worked out, construction will begin in early 2009. The LPA board has approved the selection of MHTN as the architects and Hogan & Associates Construction as the construction manager/general contractor for the new building. Both companies have excellent reputations for providing timely and quality work in their respective fields. We are currently on schedule for completing phase one of the project in August of 2009. Because we are in the planning and feasibility stage, please note that any information is subject to change.
The new building will house the 6th- 10th grade students for the 2009/2010 school year. The current LPA building will be used for the expanded elementary K-5th grades, 3 classes per grade.
The expansion committee is also working on the many details that go into creating a new high school. Sub-committees will be formed to focus on such things as community outreach, marketing, procurement, student involvement, etc. There will be more info on this soon as well as opportunities to volunteer.
Some things to note about the high school: The focus will be on rigorous academics; there will be continued emphasis on the Trivium in the Rhetoric stage; the Socratic Seminar will be the delivery method for social studies and English; and we are looking for excellent teachers that can teach demanding academics. This will be a school for students who want to learn at a college preparatory level. A goal is to have each graduating student leave with an arsenal of college credentials and acceptance to top rate colleges and universities.
We will do our best to answer questions and address concerns regarding progress so far.
